With Mermaid nearing completion and no current plans for another When I Grow Up book, I’ve been working towards getting Dino, Alien, and Mermaid translated to Spanish!
If you’ve been with me from the beginning, you’ll know my first book was bilingual Spanish/English. We are a bilingual family and in our house we prioritize reading in both languages. Because Dino, Alien, and Mermaid have the field notes within the illustrations, I didn’t want those to be bilingual – there would have been way too much text on each page. However, I think now is the time to get Spanish editions for all three.
I am doing the translation myself, and will be working with an editor to ensure the Spanish is up to snuff. Although I am bilingual, it’s always good to have a professional check – I have everything I write in English edited by a pro, too!
I am really excited to be able to offer these books in Spanish. I hope they can benefit many people (they will be available on my website and on amazon), but my own community especially. The boys attend a dual immersion school, and even still, we don’t have the access to books in Spanish that I wish we did. So, hopefully I can do my own small part in getting more Spanish books into the hands of kids.
Be on the lookout for Cuando Sea Grande, Quiero Ser un Dinosaurio / Alienígeno / Sirena! If all goes according to plan, these will be released in early 2027.
